Welcome to Kathy's Place
Facilitating the transformation from profound loss to healing and a renewed appreciation for life
Kathy’s Place exists to facilitate the process whereby grieving children experience the transforming power of moving through the pain and hurt of profound loss – arriving at an enhanced sense of self and appreciation for life, not possible without the loss and healing experience.
Our Goals
GOAL 1
Safe Processing Space
To provide a safe and accepting place where bereaved children can process emotions, thoughts, and memories.
GOAL 2
Welcoming Community
To provide a community where sharing grief is welcomed, where listening and telling through various mediums offer belonging and appreciation.
GOAL 3
Healthy Connections
To help create and foster the use of healthy connections to all family members, including those appropriate to remembering the family member who has died.
GOAL 4
Caregiver Support
To provide caregivers a means of supporting each other as they care for a grieving child.
Remembering Kathleen Mulloy
Kathleen Mulloy was born on July 4th, 1962, and died from cancer on April 22, 1974. She made the most of her short life—creative, cheerful, fun, and at times a prankster. Kathy will always be missed deeply by her family and those who knew her. Her memory inspired Dr. Mulloy to create Kathy’s Place in 2001.
The Legacy:
Kathy’s Place truly honors her memory, not only in name, but in how the programs, caregivers, and volunteers are helping so many children understand and heal from the loss of a loved one.
